Evaluation

I think coming up with the storyline was possibley the easiest part of the whole process. We knew who our target audience would be and as we were aiming at people our age we knew what kind of things we personally like to watch. As in all teams there was some initial arguments  with the details of the storyline but in the end we all  learned to compromise. Our final product matches everything we wanted it to, it is undoubtedly an action genre aimed at teenagers, it has got a twist in it and we knew exactly what we would do had we have had to produce an entire film.

The actual filming was a very long winded because we decided to do all the filming in one night so that we could edit it all together and so we were filming constantly for hours. The story board was stuck to for the most part but ther wwerre some changes for the better which were made for continuity and because of the location we were in. (One example being that we were not originally going to have the central character going into the bookies). Another reasin why the filming took so long was because we tried to do at least four different shots or angles of shot per frame to prevent the opening sequence from being boring. This was probably one of the wisest things we did as there was no point where we had to delte something from the opening sequence due to incorrect filming.

I had underestimated the editing process. We finished our first draft very quickly and comparing it to the final version it is amazing how a couple of seconds could change a shot completely and make it even more exciting or interesting. The showcase was possibley the most helpful thing that we took part it because we got a wider variety of feedback rather than just ourselves and the people we chose to show it too. The feedback from the showcase showed us that we really werent finished editing and there was still a lot to go. The changes from the final version from the first draft are not huge and not noticable, but they have helped to sharpen up the entire product.

The music was where most of our problems developed. First was the problem with our original song which was copyrighted, then  there was general disputes. One member of our group is a musician, the other is experienced with garage band and there were arguements over the dramatic piano music at the very beginning of the opening sequence. At first this dispute was settled by there being two different sound tracks produced, eventually there was a compromise and one final soundtrack was produced. I think the music makes a fil, the piano music sets the mood of the film and shows straight away that something is wrong. The grme song during the chase shows the focused age group for our audience and the lyrics almost fit in with the storyline perfectly.

There a some changes I would have made to the sequence had there have been the time but there simply wasn't enough hours in the day! Over all I'm happy with the result and am very proud of myself and my group for all the hard work and commitment we put in.

there is a group evaluation which can be seen at the link below:

Final Version of IN THE RED

Below is the final copy of In The Red. I am pleased with what we have done and feel I put in as much effort as everyone else did through the process. I think the film accurately represents all the hard work we put in to filming and editing and have learnt not to rush things. Good things take time!

Compromise

Having debated about the music for a lengthy period of time, we as a group have decided that we want to have one final version of the film, not two separate ones. This means compromising over the soundtrack. Now we have all stopped being stubborn and accepted other peoples view point the soundtrack is much better! As a group we managed to compromise over a lot of things, we all commmunicated well and eventually (sometimes after weeks of persuasion) other view points were takne into account and things were changed. All of us were happy with our soundtrack and the film which is a relief!

Production Companys

I watched a lot of similar style films all of which had relatively similar credits in terms of style. We changed our name from ASE productions to SEA productions and tried to create an animation on adobe flash but it wasn't very good. I nosted that most of the fuilms had simplistic credits so we mirrored this. Most of the films I watched had "in association with" on them. So we thought we would do the same and ADMILNA INC was created.

Soundtrack

To produce a soundtrack to the opening sequence we had to use garage band. The sequence starts off at a very slow pace and the weather is not particularly nice which shows pathetic fallacy. To create a mellow mood, we used a piano sequence at the start. The pace is slow until the main character reaches his apartment. To create suspense when he entered his apartment we used a high pitched sound. The chase sequence starts off with a gun shot and grime song Mike Lowry is played, except it is not the version by Skepta.
Due to disagreements within the group, we made two versions of the soundtrack on garage band. On one version there are sounds of traffic in the background and one without. There are different piano sounds in both of the versions at the start of the sequence.

Soundtrack issues...

Unfortunately, we discovered that we cannot use our sound track due to copy right infringements. We looked for another soundtrack to use by an unsigned artist.Eventually we found one, thankfully his lyrics fitted the opening sequence better thsn the one we had originally chosen!
